This beer has been brewed for, and meant to be, aged. While it’s tasty right now, it will be best enjoyed with a years worth of appropriate aging. Beard of Zeus Barrel-Aged Barley Wine will mature nicely for up to five years. The beer is mahogany in colour with some ruby red hues shining through under the tan head. Aromas of dried fruits, plums and a touch of warming alcohol. Much the same in taste: dried fruits, cherry and plum, sweet malt with soft notes of vanilla and toffee. The Bourbon barrels that were used to age this beer for one year give the barley wine a lot of character, which comes through nicely in the finish.

The first ever release of Beard of Zeus took place in 2013. The Bourbon Barrel-Aged monster was the winning submission in the 2012 Toronto Beer Week homebrew competition - the brewer: Kyle Teichert. Kyle was an award-winning homebrewer who has gone on to open the amazing Half Hours on Earth Brewery in Seaforth, ON. We brewed and released Beard of Zeus again in 2017 for our 30th anniversary, with Kyle joining us on the brew day. This is the third release. Age for up to 5 years.
