UPDATED – APRIL 3, 2020
We have received hundreds of inquiries over the last three years about online ordering, responding to each email/DM/phone call with a, “it’s not on our radar at this time, but thank you for connecting with us,” reply. To be honest, we never felt the need to offer the service, which we’ll explain below. But first, in light of recent events, we have some good news we’d like to share with you.
As of today, with the uncertainly of “when will the other shoe drop” announcement from federal, provincial or municipal leaders, we have hastily put together the following online activations for you to take advantage of.
#1 – Free Home Delivery
You will now be able to visit the GLB online shop, buy #FreshGLB in either 8pk / 12pk / 24pk – and kegs, if available – and have it delivered to your household the next day, within the following parameters.
- We are only accepting online orders that exceed $50
- The free home delivery only applies to Etobicoke and Toronto, Hwy 427 to Victoria Park, Hwy 401 south to the waterfront
- If you order with an area code outside of this area, we will not be able to accommodate delivery and may need to cancel your order and/or have you come and pick up the beer from our retail store
So, you live in London, Ottawa, Kitchener, Windsor, etc.. No, we are not offering shipping at this point. There are so many other terrific independent craft breweries in those towns, regions, etc. and we strongly urge you to support them in these times. Live in Kingston, order from Spearhead. Ottawa, grab some Beau’s or Dominion. Hamilton, Merit or Collective. Let’s spread the love and support our neighbourhood breweries.
The details you need to know about:
– Delivery occurs between 11am – 8pm
– Order cut-off for next-day delivery will be 11:59PM
– We are unable to accommodate any specific delivery time requests. Orders will be delivered within the 11am – 8pm window and we will TRY our best to hit your desired delivery time
– We will call you prior to our departure (from our original destination) and upon arrival. Please meet at entrance (front door, lobby, porch, etc) to meet our driver.
Upon GLB arrival:
You, the individual who placed the order, will need to be present upon GLB arrival and will need to show us your ID (Drivers Licence, Passport, etc. to show proof of birth).
Like other breweries, we will attempt only one delivery. If you, the individual who placed the order aren’t home when we arrive, we will bring back the product to the brewery to re-route and/or refund the order.
Should you reside in a condo/apartment or dwelling that requires us to buzz and there is a concierge – we will call in advance and provide you with an eta. GLB will not leave the product with the concierge. You must come down to front entrance to accept order.
We want to stress the following – we want to make this easy, and safe, for you and for our drivers.
Q. You closed the store? Why?
A. In all transparency, we strongly considered staying open and just accept online orders for in-store pickup, but we wanted to ensure that the customer service and attention to detail that you’ve all come to love about us here at GLB remained intact. At the end of the business day yesterday (March 23rd) we felt it best to focus our attention on our online home delivery option as it was steadily picking up, could guarantee more of our staff work, and provided a safe working space. Monday March 23rd was the last day the store was open to the public.
Q. We love your #FreshGLB! How are we gonna get it now that the store is closed?
A. Well, the good news, for now anyways, is that the LCBO, Grocery Stores and The Beer Store are not closing. They may be on reduced hours, but their doors remain open. This means that you can find Canuck Pale Ale, Octopus Wants to Fight and Pompous Ass English Ale in over 350 LCBO stores and Grocery outlets. You can also find Meanwhile… Down in Moxee, Shinny Pants Session Stout and As Far Back As I Can Remember IPA in over 200 LCBO stores too! Canuck and Pompous cases, and singles, are also available in select Beer Stores.
Q. Are you guys for real? Only that footprint? Will you be expanding the zone anytime soon?
A. We are indeed real. We just pinched ourselves and it hurt. That is our zone for now as this is all new to us. We are learning on the fly (having fun with it btw) and hope to expand in the next couple of weeks (though, don’t hold our feet to the fire yet). Since we launched our online beer shop for free home delivery, well, we’ve been slammed (thank you!).
There are so many other amazing craft breweries out there in the province doing home deliveries in this trying time. Yes, right in your backyard. So, spread the love and support our neighbourhood breweries throughout Ontario.
Q. Can someone order kegs online for home delivery?
A. You sure can! We have a bunch in stock as we type this out. From our Blonde Lager to Canuck Pale Ale, Octopus Wants to Fight IPA and Meanwhile… Down in Moxee IPA, we have the fresh stuff ready to go.
Q. Did you stop offering customers the ability to order online for in-store pick-up?
A. With the closure of the store, for the time being, yes, we have stopped offering the in-store pick-up option. We’ve put our retail staff on the road to make home deliveries.
Q. How long will the store remained closed for?
A. Like everything else surrounding COVID-19, we have no answer. It could be a week or two, or a month. Like we mentioned above, we are taking this one day at a time. We’ll be sure to announce the date of the re-opening from the rooftops once we determine the best time that is safe for all.
#2 – Pick up in store – CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE Customers will now be able to head to our online shop, purchase #FreshGLB and we’ll have it ready for you for in-store pick up the following day, or schedule a day that is convenient for you.
So, up at the top we said we’d explain why we didn’t offer online shopping (beer) in the past. Well, as promised, here is our answer…
Canuck Pale Ale, Octopus Wants to Fight IPA and Pompous Ass English Ale are available in over 350-375 LCBO and over 350-375 grocery stores across Ontario. Our rotational IPAs in our Tank Ten Series also get the LCBO love, so, together these two channels provide Ontarians to go to their local store to purchase these brands.
Now, our 7 Barrel Series of beers… when we release these brands, we usually have about 2000 cans or so. They typically sell out of our retail store in less than 2 weeks, and, you know us – fresh is best! We didn’t, and still don’t, believe that our beer should sit around waiting to be purchased online, so there is the reason we didn’t put our beers online.
We’re working on this every day, but if you have any recommendations or ideas, please reach out to [email protected]
We appreciate the love and support here at our fiercely independent craft brewery in glorious Etobicoke.
