GLB Hops for Hunger Food Drive 2022

Published on November 29, 2022

2022 marks our 14th year working with our south Etobicoke neighbours, Daily Bread Food Bank, in their ongoing fight to end hunger right here in our city. Did you know that Daily Bread distributes over 100,000 pounds of food per day? That’s over 3x the amount pre-COVID.

While the cost of living in our city skyrockets and the number of people in our community with food insecurity rises, it’s now more important than ever to make sure those in need have access to food and hygiene essentials.

Want to help?

Come by Great Lakes Brewery on Saturday, December 3rd between 10am and 4pm with some non-perishable food items, baby food, diapers, and/or monetary donations to help those in need right here in our community.

GLB staff will be on-site throughout the day to gather donations from the brewery parking lot, sort them and make sure they get to Daily Bread Food Bank. While you’re here, pick up some special White Eggnog Stout, a beer brewed with love and support for Daily Bread. $1 from each can or pour will be donated to the organization, which will help provide healthy meals for those facing food insecurity.

“I and the team here at GLB look forward to this campaign each December,” said Peter Bulut, Owner & President of GLB“Community means the world to us here at brewery and giving back to those that need it the most is the least we can do. We are proud to build on the 14-year relationship with have with Daily Bread Food Bank as they continue to do amazing work in communities in and around the city of Toronto.”

Can’t make it out on the 3rd? No sweat. We’ll also be collecting food items and accepting monetary donations throughout the month of December right here at the brewery retail store/taproom.

We’ll also be releasing an additional beer in support of Daily Bread next week – Belgian Winter Ale. Can conditioned and brimming with flavours of nutmeg, candied sugars, cinnamon and more, 473ml cans will hit our retail stores locations shortly. Just like White Eggnog Stout, $1 from each can sold will be directed to fighting hunger in our city.
