GLB Job Posting: Retail Store / Events: Customer Service Representative

Reporting to the Retail Store and Taproom Manager and the Events and Partnerships Manager, the Retail Store / Events Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing amazing customer service and assisting customers in the brewery retail store and at select Ontario beer events. This role is built for a dynamic and motivated individual that will cover aspects of pouring beer in our taproom, stocking shelves, planning internal beer releases, event management, handling cash and debit transactions and being the first point of contact on behalf of GLB.

Role responsibilities are broken into two categories that are aimed at heightening GLB customer engagement experiences through our onsite brewery retail store and taproom and offsite at targeted beer festivals and events.

Retail Store and Taproom Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere by greeting and engaging all guests
  • Customize each guest experience and educate customers on GLB products/brands
  • Assist retail team in increasing beer and merchandise sales by creating ways to increase conversion rates and units per transaction (UPT’s)
  • Handle cash/debit/credit transactions and complete end-of-day point of sale duties
  • Answer phones to help with customer inquiries and arrange keg sales
  • Maintain appearance of the store and patio: refill beer fridges, restock merchandise, clean taproom and patio when required
  • Serve tasting flights and 12oz glasses of beer on GLB patio during warmer months
  • Ensure responsible service of alcohol under Smart Serve guidelines at all times
  • Stay educated on Great Lakes products, both current and upcoming, and share this knowledge enthusiastically
  • Must regularly check the washroom for cleanliness and tidiness
  • Empty retail garbage and recycling on a regular basis
  • Learn and understand the inventory control process for beer and merchandise transfers

GLB Event Responsibilities

  • Greeting and interacting with customers; providing the superior customer service
  • Traveling to various events and activations within the province (primarily within the GTA)
  • Educating new and existing patrons of our brewery’s rich history and our premium products
  • Setting up and tearing down GLB booth(s) at events, trade shows, exhibitions (events)
  • Working on your feet / standing for long hours during festivals and events
  • Ability to problem-solve and work under pressure during fast-paced events
  • Excellent communication abilities with a team-oriented outlook
  • Branded clothing and steel toe capped boots must be worn

Key Requirements

  • Passion for all things Craft Beer with a focus on the local community
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of platforms such as Slack, Gmail, Untappd
  • Smart Serve Certified with Retail Alcohol Sales designation
  • Have a passion for sales and all things craft beer
  • Be extremely friendly, outgoing, and have a positive attitude
  • Value outstanding customer service to create and maintain the friendly, professional, and fun experience GLB is known for
  • Have exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Be proactive in assisting and “reading” customers, and the ability to personalize each visit
  • Be able to work alone or in a team environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Retail or bartending experience is preferred
  • Full driver’s license is an asset
