We have something we’d like to share with you, in more ways than one.
GLB is happy to announce that we’ve recently ‘shopped local’ for three new tanks to assist in our unprecedented growth!
On Wednesday April 6th, GLB welcomed two custom made fermentation tanks that will soon be full of beer. The tanks, build by Highland Equipment Limited at 136 The East Mall in Etobicoke, are the first in our new commitment to purchase various pieces of brewing equipment from local manufacturers; something rare in the Ontario craft brewing industry.
The two new fermenters will hold 12,000 litres of beer respectively and join 16 others in our fermentation cellar. They will be filled with our award-winning brands like Canuck Pale Ale and Pompous Ass English Ale immediately upon install to keep up with demand. Peter Bulut, owner and president of GLB, has already indicated that more tanks will be needed in the coming months, including a new Brite Tank that is slated to be delivered at the end of April, and we will continue growing our business relationship with Highland Equipment.
“It feels good knowing that just up the road from the brewery there is a great local company that employs local people to make equipment that we’ll fill with our beer and get into the hands of local customers,” said Bulut. “You’ve heard of the 100 mile diet, well, we did the 1 mile ‘fermentation’ diet so to speak,” he continued. “We look forward to building on our relationship with Highland for years to come as both of our respective companies continue to grow.”
As you all know, GLB is a fiercely independent craft brewery with strong roots here in the Etobicoke community, so buying local just makes sense. We feel that supporting the neighbours that have supported our growth over 29 years is simply the right thing to do.
