The 7th annual Toronto Beer Week is upon us and we are gearing up for another exciting week (err, 9 days) of events! We hope that you find some time between September 16 – 24th to induldge with us as craft beer takes over the city.
Here is an ongoing list of events that you’ll find smiling GLB employees at during #TBW2016.
Before TBW officially starts…
Saturday September 10th
Toronto Craft Brew Cruise
Location: The River Gambler – 333 Lakeshore Avenue West
Admission: $45
Details: Your $45 ticket will provide you access to this unique experience, a commemorative mug along with four sample tokens that can be used at one of the participating breweries for a 4oz sample of the beer of your choice. Additional tokens $1 each. Choose between a 2pm & 7pm sailing.
Thursday September 15th
The Beer Experience
Location: The Berkeley Church, 315 Queen Street East
Admission: $25
Details: Each brewery has either brewed something totally unique specifically for this event, or they are bringing you a brand new brew that hasn’t hit the shelves yet! This is a pay as you go event. Sample vouchers are available in the Church and the Field House and cost $1 each.
Friday September 16th
C’est What 29th Annual Festival of Canadian Craft Breweries
Location: 67 Front Street East
Admission: Free
Details: This year we are featuring a home and away series with Toronto brewers on Friday and those further afield on Saturday. Four-dozen brews available each night.
Saturday September 17th
Crawl the Danforth – Pub Crawl
Location: Danforth Avenue
Admission: Free to attend. Pay per drink at each location.
Details: Join GLB, Left Field Brewery and Side Launch Brewery as we lead you on a tour of the best craft beer bars along the Danforth…pub crawl style!Capture your Toronto Beer Week Danforth Pub Crawl on social media using #CrawlTheDanforth hash tag for your chance to win great prizes throughout the crawl. Bars inlcuded – Local 1794, The Wren, Sauce on the Danforth, Morgans on the Danforth, The Dylan Bar, Rails and Ales Restopub, The Only Cafe, The Court Jester Pub, The Edmund Burke. New this year – Passports for the crawl! Visit each bar on the list, get a stamp on your free passport, and if you make it to all 9 establishments, well, there is a big prize to be won.
Sunday September 18th
Famous Canadian Beer Run
Location: Ontario Place, 955 Lake Shore Blvd West
Admission: $65 for run and beer / $25 for just beer
Details: Famous Canadian Beer Run 5K takes runners on a meandering tour of Ontario Place. Run registration includes: entry into post-run Craft Beer & Food Festival, 4 beer/beverage chips (good for two 8 oz. beers, or four 4 oz. beer samples), commemorative beer stein, run t-shirt, race kit filled with samples and a customized race bib.
Tuesday September 20th
GLB x Rainhard Tap Takeover at The Wren
Location: The Wren, 1382 Danforth Avenue
Admission: Free, pay per drink
Details: GLB and Rainhard Brewery are teaming up to take over the taps at The Wren! Each brewery will split the taps, including a special collaboration beer that all parties will brew. Start time 4pm. Beer list to be announced closer to the date of the event.
Wednesday September 21st
Hopera-Quartus
Location: The Monarch Tavern, 12 Clinton Street
Admission: $38.80
Details: HOPERA… an evening of local craft beer & song. Join us for this celebration of craft beer and opera. Each song will be accompanied by a sample of local craft beer. Pairings will be presented with details on the musical selection and the beer style as well as why they were chosen. Hopera is an intimate event and will provide meaningful insight into both the world of local craft beer and the world of opera.
Thursday September 22nd
Golden Tap Awards
Location: beerbistro, 18 King Street East
Admission: Free to attend. Tokens for drinks.
Details: The Golden Tap Awards are a leading awards event recognizing the best craft beer achievements in Ontario.
Now in their fourteenth year, the Golden Tap Awards is Ontario’s most democratic awards event, with all voting taking place online by the general public. Our event will feature an all-Ontario craft beer festival as we announce the winners. Doors will open at 5pm, where you will be able to try sample sizes of all the beers available. The awards show occurs at 8pm, and after the show all beers will be available in full pints.
Ladies Pint Out
Location: The Grover Pub & Grub, 676 Kingston Road
Admission: $40
Details: Troy Burtch from Great Lakes Brewery and Sharon Shoot from Chocolate by Wickerhead are teaming up once again for an unforgettably decadent experience at The Grover Pub. This sold-out event was so much fun last year, we thought, “why not bring it back?”
- A welcome beer on arrival
- Five beautifully handcrafted chocolates paired with five exclusive, limited release beers
- Engaging beer education and guided tasting with Troy from Great Lakes Brewery

Saturday September 24th
2nd Annual GLB Pig Roast
Location: Great Lakes Brewery
Admission: $5
Details: Come on out to GLB to celebrate the last day of Toronto Beer Week with our 2nd annual Pig Roast! We’ll be rocking out all day to the amazing band, Tommy Youngsteen, throwing down some bocce ball and cornhole toss action, pouring FreshGLB beers for only $5, offering some unique cask conditioned ales and more!
