At Great Lakes Brewery, the holiday season is all about giving back to our community. That’s why we’re proud to announce our 17th annual HOPS FOR HUNGER campaign in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. This year’s campaign is packed with delicious beers, festive activities, and other opportunities to help raise awareness, and funds, to help fight food insecurity right here in Toronto.
Here’s what we’ve got brewing for 2025:
TWO SPECIAL RELEASES
Get festive with our two limited-edition seasonal brews:
White Eggnog Stout
A rich, creamy white stout with notes of nutmeg and spice. Brewed with lactose, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, this White Stout tastes like, well, Eggnog.
Hazy Pale Ale
An New England-style pale ale with juicy notes of peach, mango, strawberry, and a touch of lemon. A true holiday treat.
For every can sold, $1 will be donated directly to the Daily Bread Food Bank, helping to combat hunger in our community. For every $1 raised, Daily Bread can provide the equivalent of one meal for individuals and families experiencing hunger in our city. Whether you’re gathering with friends, attending a holiday party, or cozying up at home, these beers are the perfect way to give back while enjoying the season.
SANTA’S ELVES MARKETPLACE
The holiday spirit comes alive at our Santa’s Elves’ Market, kicking off at noon on Saturday, November 30th at the Brewery.
- Food Drive: Bring non-perishable food items to donate and help stock the shelves of the Daily Bread Food Bank. For every 25lbs of non-perishable food you bring to the Santa’s Elves’ Market on the 29th, you’ll get a 4 pack of one of our core brands! We’ll also be accepting donations in the GLB Taproom throughout December.
- Christmas Trees for a Cause: Mike Majeski from Re/Max will be on-site selling Christmas trees, with all profits benefiting the food bank.
TEAM GLB IN ACTION
We’re doing it again! This December, Team GLB will be volunteering at the Daily Bread Food Bank, helping with Food Sorts. It’s always a fun day to roll up our sleeves and work alongside other volunteers in the fight against hunger.

HOPS FOR HUNGER is a community effort. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Buy a Beer: Grab a White Eggnog Stout or Hazy Pale Ale from our brewery or participating retailers. $1 from every can supports the cause.
- Donate Food: Drop off non-perishable items at the brewery throughout December.
- Attend the Market: Bring your family and friends to the Santa’s Elves’ Market on November 30th to enjoy great food, pick out a Christmas tree, and support a worthy cause.
- Spread the Word: Share this campaign with your network and help us amplify the impact!
