In case you missed it (CBC Article), our very own Ottawa Sales Rep, Jay McNeely, was recently crowned the Air Guitar Champion of Canada.
Here is how it went down.
Last Saturday, July 25, Canadian Air Guitar regional champions descended upon Toronto from across the country for the chance to reign supreme over all the land at the Canadian Championships. It was a hot and sticky day downtown, but after a few pints at barVolo our champ-to-be was cooled off and ready dominate the air in a way we haven’t seen since Michael Jordan retired.
The competition was intense with competitors bringing out everything from puppets to fireball shooting wrist bands, but Jay “Thrust” McNeely had drank just enough Canuck that day to tear the roof off the Mod Club and walk away with the trophy, bragging rights and a trip to Finland to represent Canada at the World Championships.
It’s not a huge surprise to see him take the gold as he is named after out own gold medal winning THRUST! an IPA. His truely beer soaked performance impressed the judges and narrowly edged out runner up ‘Hansel the Mansel’.
We wish THRUST the best at the world championships and hope he can bring home the gold for Canada. When asked if he was ready for Finland he said, “I’m going over there to hand out ass kickings and lollipops, and Im fresh out of lollipops.”
