First off, thank you for all of your emails, text messages, DM’s and phone calls today. As soon as the government announced that Toronto would enter stage two of Ontario re-start phase, we were overwhelmed with the outpouring of excitement many of you shared with us in anticipation of our patio opening. Humbling indeed.
We don’t have a concrete answer for you, yet. We’ll be taking some time to develop safety protocols, create a staffing plan, re-design a modified patio layout, touch up our retail footprint, update our point of sale operating system and much more.
We miss you all. GLB is built, and exists for, community. But we do not wish to open just for the sake of opening and forgo our goal of ‘creating memorable experiences’ for all. We want to take our time to get it right. To ensure that with each interaction with a GLB team member, you feel safe and well cared for.
Some might ask why we haven’t been planning all along… Since COVID-19 hit, our small but mighty team have adapted to our new environment and our entire focus has been on creating new beers, making sure product got out to stores and making sure that we delivered to your doorstep within one day. We’ve processed, picked, packaged and delivered thousands of orders in that time and slowly and safely re-opened our retail for brewery pick-up. It’s been taxing, yet rewarding.
While our team collectively plans for the opening of the patio (and area), GLB will continue to make hundreds of free local home deliveries on a daily basis and operate our brewery curbside pick-up option seven days a week. We’ll be making changes to our pick-up model in the next week to include the return of mix and match purchasing – buying singles (stay tuned).
We will also continue to work with, and support, our licensee friends (bars and restaurants) across Ontario who have been through so much in these past four months. So many of them have had to make very difficult decisions while altering their entire business model – they need your support now. Our sales team is working very closely with bars of all shapes and sizes to get the freshest beer on tap and the freshest cans stocked for take-home sales.
GLB will also continue to work extremely hard with our retail channel sales partners (LCBO, Loblaws, Metro, Sobeys, Wal-Mart, No Frills, The Beer Store) to get that #FreshGLB out there, across the province. You can find our beers (Canuck Pale Ale, Octopus Wants to Fight IPA, Pompous Ass English Ale, HazeMama New England IPA and Sunnyside Session IPA) in over 400 locations.
When we open we’ll be prepared for you, in this new outdoor patio landscape, safely, and with a #FreshGLB or three waiting for you.
