Great Lakes Brewery (GLB) is pleased to welcome Barry Pletch to our growing team of awesome GLB ambassadors as he joins us as a Territory Account Manager for licensee sales.
Barry joins GLB after spending 8+ years with McAuslan Brewery where his smiling face was a fixture at great beer bars and craft friendly festivals across Ontario. Barry brings a vast amount of beer sales experience with him to the GLB family and he’s excited to get out on the road getting #FreshGLB into your hands.
We sat down with Barry on his first day on the job to get him to share somethings with you so you can get to know him better. Oh, and of course we took him out for beers at Bryden’s on Bloor.
What do you look for in a good beer?
To me a good beer is one that is consistent and has dependable quality – from batch to batch, keg to keg, can to can.
What is your favourite part of working in craft beer?
When I introduce craft beer to someone who has never had craft beer before — and witnessing their senses being awakened to go along with their sense of discovery.
What do you want to accomplish with GLB?
I want to continue making the world a better place by introducing everyone to Gordie Levesque. I have found every member of the GLB family is filled with pure passion and creativity and I want to contribute as much as I can.
When you’re not out selling and talking craft beer, what do you get up to?
I am out walking my dog in High Park, playing sports and coaching my girls in soccer or cheering them on in anything that they do. I am also the Ring Announcer in the Fight To End Cancer – a great annual event raising money for cancer research for the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Gotta pick one – what GLB beer is in your fridge most often?
Canuck Pale Ale. I have a bit of a bromance with Gordie Levesque and the beer is just sooooo good.
Drop Barry a line if you’re looking to carry some GLB and you operate in Toronto’s west end.
